The Essure System
Each Essure System consists of an Essure micro-insert inside a disposable delivery catheter and ergonomic handle. Two sterile Essure Systems and two DryFlow Introducers are included in each Essure Kit.
A standard continuous flow operative hysteroscope with a minimal 5 French working channel and a 12-30° angled lens is recommended for the Essure procedure.
Essure Micro-Insert
The Essure micro-insert consists of materials that have been used in implants for decades; a stainless steel inner coil with polyester fibers and a super-elastic nitinol outer anchoring coil. Soft, flexible and conforming, the micro-insert measures 1.5 inches (3.85 cm) long and when released dynamically expands up to 2.0 mm to conform to and anchor in the fallopian tube. When properly placed the trailing coils of the micro-insert are easily visualized at the tubal ostium allowing immediate confirmation of placement.
Disposable Delivery Catheter
Using a single-handed ergonomic handle, the disposable catheter includes a delivery wire, release catheter, and delivery catheter housing the Essure micro-insert. The ergonomic handle controls delivery and a button-thumbwheel combination on the handle releases the micro-insert into the fallopian tube.
DryFlow® Introducer
The disposable DryFlow Introducer protects the micro-insert and prevents fluid splash-back as it passes through the hysteroscope working channel.
