The Essure Procedure is Easy

The following are the key steps to the Essure insert placement procedure. For more detailed instructions, please read this document

Step 1: Visualize the Ostia

  • Uterus distended with physiologic saline
  • Tubal ostium in center of visual field
  • Identify and assess both ostia hysteroscopically before proceeding to insert placement

Step 2: Position the Delivery Catherer

  • Delivery catheter advanced until black positioning marker is at tubal ostium
  • Delivery catheter withdrawn away from insert into operating channel of hysteroscope

Step 3: Release the Catheter with the Gold Band

  • Gold band is aligned outside the tubal ostium
  • Green release catheter withdrawn to expand the insert

Step 4: Position the Insert

  • Insert properly positioned and deployed across utero-tubal junction
